Friday Loves {Winner of Shiloh Farms Giveaway}

After a very long and draining week, I was so pleased to have an uneventful Friday.  I woke up this morning thinking I was going to treat myself with a waffle stack.  I even went to bed thinking about it last night.  But when the time came to pull out the waffles, I suddenly got a huge craving for cereal.  Janetha just posted about her deep affection for cereal and I felt like she was speaking to me.  Plus, my protein cereal bowls are pretty fantastic if you ask me. 

Breakfast 

What goes into a protein cereal bowl you ask? 

Well this one was Kashi Puffs, Natures Path Flax Plus Flakes, 1/2 scoop of vanilla Sun Warrior protein powder, 1/2 a banana, blueberries, flax meal, sunflower butter, almond milk.

I've been asked why I only use a 1/2 scoop of protein powder and not a full one and the reason being that I think a full scoop would make it a little too chalky.  The protein powder does turn the milk a bit pasty but in a good way.  1/2 of a scoop just seems to be the right balance, unless you were to blend the milk and protein powder together before pouring onto the cereal.  Hope that explains it. 

Served along side 1/2 of a grapefruit.  Love that it's light now when I take these breakfast pictures. I guess not for long with clocks ahead this weekend.  Well, at least dinner will be on the bright side…you win some you loose some. 

I spent the entire day in the office which felt good after being out almost every single day this past week.  I did run home for lunch and attempted to use up the contents of the fridge with a hodge podge salad. 

Lunch 

greens, cabbage, grapefruit (other 1/2), roasted brussels sprouts, edamame, goat cheese, egg whites, edamame hummus 

Do you see that little brown shadow in the right corner? It never fails, every time I shoot my lunch photos, I have a spectator that won't remove himself from the scene. 

 

Cute, yes.  But in the actual moment, it drives me crazy.  Apparently Sammy doesn't appreciate the intense concentration that goes into food blogging. 

When I got home from work, I thought about starting some laundry, I thought about organizing my new desk, I thought about doing some abs and arms….what I really did though was plant myself on the couch and drank a glass of wine.  All I EVER want to do on a Friday evening is just that.  I've stopped fighting it and just learned to accept it. 

Dinner 

Salmon was on the menu tonight.  Beautiful, fatty, rich salmon.  Just the way I like it. 

I served it over a bed of steamed kale with quinoa and roasted asparagus.

Okay, so the fact that the ingredient list far exceeds my limit when it comes to baking, I can still swoon over how amazing this looks.  Someone please come and bake this for me.  I'll trade you for one of my amazing salads! Fair trade right?

Style Love: 

How adorable is this look?  I have always been a fan of short shorts and fancy tops.  Give me a pair of wedges and some fancy earrings and you have yourself a Saturday night outfit. 

 

Decorating Love: 

I love this rustic coffee table from Pottery Barn.  Too bad it would not go at all in my contemporary living room but it's making me reconsider an entire redecorating project. 

Music Love: 

The Head and The Heart – Down in the Valley 

I've been digging this group for months and I just found out today that they are going to be the opening act for the DMB show this summer.  Made my day!

Your bowl of cereal looks absolutely delicious – I'm loving all the blueberries. I like making protein cereal milk as well – definitely helps with keeping me statified all morning!

Berries make any bowl of ceral AMAZING! I don't eat ceral alot for breakfast because it doesn't fill me up, but I think I will try that bowl. Looks delicious and filling!

And that's a super cute outfit.  I don't consider myself very fashionable but one of my best friends always has the cutest clothes and dresses me when we are going to go out somewhere.  That look looks like something she'd totally put together. :)

Your day of eats looks pretty similar to mine.  I love your salad creations!  I also love the short shorts and fancy shirt.  I need to go shopping!

That cinnamon cake looks amazing! I immediately checked out the ingredient list & unfortunately (or probably, fortunately!) I don't have 2 sticks of butter on-hand, or else I'd probably be making it!

That salad for lunch sounds so tasty! Perhaps I'll make something inspired by it for dinner :) and your breakfast looks so fresh too. I'm going to hint to my mom to check out your blog for that salmon–she would exclaim at its vibrancy!
