I find it odd that we are celebrating the 4th of July smack dab in the middle of the week this year. It just doesn’t feel right having to go back to work after having off tomorrow for the holiday but that isn’t keeping me from enjoying it.
No one seemed to have any plans this year for the 4th, so Toly and I decided we would have just a few friends over for a small cookout. Well, turns out our small gathering might be a little bigger than we anticipated but no worries because we are just happy to be enjoying a fun and relaxing day with our friends.
We’re in the middle of a heat wave here and I can’t say I’m hating it. I love waking up to warm mornings. Summer just makes me happy, plain and simple.
Still rocking this cereal combo.
The quinoa granola is rocking my world right now. I don’t make my own granola often because I usually have 10 open bags at a time, but I’m so happy I made this one because it’s fantastic. And I’m not just saying that because I want you to vote for it for the HLS Wild Harvest Breakfast Showdown. Okay, maybe just a little. 😉
I was supposed to have a lunch meeting this afternoon but found out my contact had to cancel last minute. I contemplated going and grabbing something but decided I should probably just run home and use up some of the food to make room in the fridge for all of the party food.
I put together a salad of romaine and spinach, cabbage, cucumber, grapefruit, avocado, and turkey topped with hemp seeds, hummus and balsamic.
A new FAVORITE drink…
Before heading back into the office, I quickly whipped up a protein shake to take with me.
This had pineapple, banana, vanilla protein powder, and almond milk. What a great idea to keep cool, full and feeling great before a workout.
After work, I met up with my trainer for legs and abs. I was all over those monkey bars tonight and have the calluses to prove it.
Once my workout was complete, I quickly ran home to change and then headed over to Wegmans to meet my lovely friend CJ for dinner and a much needed catch up on life.
I wasn’t very hungry tonight for some reason but sushi sounded perfect.
The Spicy Lump Crab Roll was a great choice but I could only eat about half. I think that protein smoothie sat in my stomach like a rock all afternoon.
I might have been full, but never too full for fro-yo!
I haven’t seen CJ in months and it was so great to catch up and dish on our lives over the past few months. We met last year at the HLS and realized that we both lived relatively close to one another. Since then, we’ve stayed in touch and try to get together as much as we can.
After dinner, we walked across the complex to Sweet Frog to end our wonderful night on an even better note.
I had it set in my mind that I would be all about plain tart with some fruit tonight but after CJ convinced me to try the Cookies n’ Cream, I couldn’t resist. Cookies n’ Cream fro-yo is fantastic! And I hate cookies n’ cream ice cream so I was floored. I filled my cup with a little cookies n’ cream, a little cappuccino and topped it with raspberries, chocolate chips, coconut and granola.
Such a fun night!

I tried posting it in HTML (not rich txt editing) and embedding the code but it’s just coming up a big yellow box. Does anyone have ANY insight? I’m baffled and about to give up.
