Enhancements: I Need Your Help

This day is flying by!  I’m going through some transitioning right now which is keeping me extremely preoccupied but in a very productive way.  I’m trying to get everything done by 4pm because I have a very exciting date planned with the lovely Sara.

Speaking of transition, I wanted to ask you all a favor.  I’m working on making a few enhancements to this blog.  I don’t necessarily want to say “changes” because I feel that most people fear that word so “enhancements” sounds much better.

The first alteration I’m leaning towards is more posts throughout the day.  Currently, my posting schedule is designed once a day (usually in the evenings) and chronicles the events and food of my day.  Time to time, I throw in a recipe, giveaway, review, workout, or a more meaningful topic to discuss.  I’m toying with the idea of posting 2-3 times a day because I feel that I may put way too much content into one post alone.

Also, one thing I’ve been meaning to do for some time now is update the recipe focus on this blog.  I’ve been contacted by numerous readers who have all suggested I put some emphasis into a more solid recipe page.  That is definitely in my grand plan, don’t you worry!

Now is where I need your help.  What are things you would like to see develop with this site?  More recipes, more workout posts, more giveaways, more health related topics, etc.  And, would you be interested in seeing multiple (shorter) posts in a day rather than one large one?

It was one of those days when I felt compelled to put together a kitchen sink salad.  This usually happens towards the end of the week when the need to use up the last of the vegetables occurs.

  • Romaine and Kale
  • Zucchini (homegrown)
  • Tomato (homegrown)
  • Asparagus
  • Cabbage
  • Avocado
  • Dried Cherries
  • Sunflower Seeds
  • Grilled Chicken
  • Nutritional Yeast
  • Hummus
  • Balsamic

These salads never disappoint.

Well better get back to my task list.  4pm is right around the corner!

    I would love to see more posts throughout the day if you have the time to do that. I’m sure it must be hard with work and life in general 🙂
    I also second the addition of more recipes and workouts that we coudl print and do at home.

    Hi lauren, I read your blog daily but rarely comment! I actually have always loved your posting schedule, the one post per day and the structure of your posts! But im sure multiple/shorter posts would be just as great! I love getting food/recipe ideas from your daily eats so more recipes would definitly be fun and some workouts as well 🙂

    Definitely more, structured recipes would be great.

    I’m not sure about number of posts. Sometimes I feel like numerous shorter posts are overwhelming (like if I take the weekend off from view posts than open my Reader and see 15 posts from one person – it’s a lot to catch up on). But, I also like the shorter, more focused posts that don’t skim on details. You can always go back if you or your readers don’t seem to like it.

  5. I really like your idea of posting more throughout the day. I also like when you do “heavier” posts where you let us get to know you more. Of course I hope as our friendship progresses I will get to know you more on a personal level so feel free to completely ignore this if you dont want to be that open in such a public place, but its just a thought. some of those are my favorite because you have such an eloquent way of capturing the raw reality that life isnt always perfect.

    I have unsubscribed from some blogs that post multiple times a day because it gets a little overwhelming! But I definitely would love more recipes, some of the ones I’ve found from your blog have been the best!

    Ah, that salad sounds wonderful!
    I think you should do whatever works best for you, but I usually enjoy seeing smaller posts scattered throughout the day. I can understand that it may be hard because your super busy. I don’t mind seeing larger posts either, but for people with short attention spans it might be easier;)
    I’d love to see more of your workouts as well!

I personally prefer once a day posting as a blogger just because it is easier for me to do and I don’t mind going through longer posts as a reader! Keep up the great work!     Gosh I love your blog the way it is. I just wouldn’t want you to feel too overwhelmed posting multiple times a day, but if you want to I’d totally support you 🙂

    I don’t mind your “long” posts. Some of the blogs I follow have muuuuch longer ones. I love the topics you speak about, so I’ll read whatever you write 🙂 But, I would love more recipes if you have them to share 😉

But I will admit, I absolutely love reading your “more meaningful” topics as they usually spark some kind of thought in me or correlate with how I’m feeling or something I’m dealing with (or they’re just really interesting to me). If I were to want to see more, I guess I’d hope for more about your workout regime.

    I love your blog because you’re open, honest, yet still fun and informative, if that makes sense? I also agree with the majority of the posts with more posts throughout the day – I tend to read blogs all day long when I have breaks so anticipating more posts from people is something to look forward to. Personally, I love workout posts – I write them down in a book and am able to flip through it when I need motivation or ideas. I also love healthy recipes – it’s sometimes hard finding delicious, healthy, low/no sugar recipes that I can make for others – which is so key right now in the summer!

  19. I’m kind of interested in the workouts that you do. I have never seen it before (the one where you are elevated)… so more information/pictures on that would be lovely. I don’t forsee myself trying the exercises due to my location… BUT if your trainer has advice on how to improvise & perform similar routines at home that would be icing on the cake 🙂

  20. Sometimes multiple posts can be overwhelming, but I would read your blog regardless! If you do decide to write more than once a day, I would suggest mixing it up. Focus on food/recipes, workouts once in a while, but then it is always good to know the life stuff too. I relate to them more!

I think that if you have time to do more posts, then go for it, but no stress 🙂 I would also love to get more recipe ideas, and would enjoy seeing more workouts, reviews, and maybe some fashion posts, you always seem to have cute outfits.     I like your blog just the way it is. Although I do follow some bloggers who do multiple entries, I only read the most current one due to the time element. More recipes would be nice. I have seen your wrap sandwich time after time, but I have never seen a breakdown on how you layer it.

    I have been following your blog for about a year now. I enjoy your daily posts and don’t recall every feeling like they are to long! I personally like the one a day posts, but I would still follow you if you changed it up as well. I don’t know what I would add, your blog has always seemed well balanced to me. My opinion would be to only change things that YOU truly want to change or add, I think that would be best for your work life balance 🙂

    I like to check in once a day and read your blog, so I think one post is the way to go. That way I don’t feel like I have to keep checking back in to see what I might have missed! I think you have the right formula with a variety of topics….recipes, workouts, and what your day or weekend has been like. Always a pleasure to read!

    It would be cool it you did a cooking segment that broke down really basic things, like roasting different types of veggies, or prepping salmon, etc. Your salads are all so creative but it would be fun to get inspiration and confidence on food aspects some of us haven’t used before. Perhaps?

    In general, I love the balance you have. I noticed a few comments about one post a day and I would second that. I read posts in the evening to relax and get overwhelmed when a blogger has a ton of posts. Ultimately, you have to do what makes you happy and if multiple posts or twice a week or writing about popcorn or whatever random detail you can think of is it, do it. Being genuine always wins more points in my book and it makes everyone happier.

    I tend to prefer one post a day. I know when I follow blogs that post multiple times a day my reader tends to get overwhelming quickly and I am much more likely to hit “mark all as read” without giving the posts a glance (as much as I hate to do it). Even if the one post is long it is much less overwhelming to me and if I can’t check in for a day or two it’s not daunting to catch up. Just my opinion though. (:

    I am looking forward to the enhancements that you mentioned! Especially the recipes.

    I really like your blog and I don’t think it really matters if you write one bigger post a day or 2/3 smaller ones. Because you always put much effort into each one 🙂 So do what makes you feel more comfortable with and you can do on a regular basis. Maye a switch in between is nice like just focus in one post on workouts and the other one just on healthy food. Either way, your blog is awesome and I’m glad I found it 🙂

    Something I would love to hear more about are workouts like RPM. I do all my spin work by myself, and have always been a bit intimidated by spin classes (though I’ve basically done the equivalent of them myself for almost a year!). Not only am I curious as to how rpm is different from other workouts, but maybe a few tips and tricks of the trade? Stuff that the usual people don’t say, like how to construct your own workouts! Or how to construct a routine in gyms that have time limits.
    Otherwise, I love the mixture of everything, content wise. And I think that the multi-post format will make it easier on you by allowing you to focus on themes/discussions, rather than trying to fit everything in and make it fit. not that you aren’t able to! It just might be easier for you.
    But I adore your blog, keep it up!

    I like one post a day for the same reason a lot of other people mentioned. Sometimes I feel like when people write multiples a day there is no substance, they just feel they have to. Maybe you could do a couple of series on couple of days a week where you feature a workout of the week or recipe, so on those days there might be an extra more subject based post, but your daily recap would remain the same

  37. I kind of like bloggers who just post once a day. I don’t feel like your posts are too long to read. I enjoy that you post once usually in the evening–that’s when I do my blog reading anyways! Ultimately though whatever works best for you is okay with me! I will still be a loyal reader because I really enjoy your blog. I would enjoy some more posts about your style if you would want to incorporate that into the blog.

I know you’ve talked about working out with a trainer and being and instructor, so I would love to see some more details of workouts.
