Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, most of the world is starting to become engrossed in the holiday spirit. Christmas music is being sung, decorations are being dusted off, and crowds are forming every and anywhere you go. It’s definitely that time of year.
For most, this is a cherished time. People anxiously wait all year for the few weeks leading up to this most beloved holiday. What’s not to love; cookies, carolers, parties, Bing Crosby singing sweet little reminders to “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” Yep, it’s a glorious time of year.
So then why in the world can I not get into the Christmas spirit?
This is very unlike me, but this year, I’m just not into it. I’m hoping the seasonal bug hits me soon because it will come and go before I know it. I have no desire to decorate, no desire to start shopping, and no desire to turn on the Christmas tunes. It’s sad. I know what you’re thinking, “what is wrong with this Grinch,” and you have every right to.
Even though my Christmas joy has yet to make its appearance, I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t started to think about my Santa wish list. Let’s be honest, I’ve been pinning my Christmas wants all year, and now I feel sort of guilty even showing you this after I just confessed my aversion for all things festive, but it’s all I’ve got. Maybe next week I’ll have some pictures of our decorated tree or a plate of freshly baked cookies, or maybe I’ll just live this holiday season vicariously through all of your Instagrams. Either way, I’ll start to work on my cheer.
