How many of you eat breakfast on the go?
I guess the better question would be, how many of you actually eat breakfast?
I hope all hands are raised high with that last one, but let’s focus on the first question for a second.
I tend not to eat my morning meal in my car. I’ve done it before, and I’m not a fan of rushing my favorite part of the day. I would much rather savor the early hours over a lasting bowl of oatmeal, some Good Morning America, and a little blog reading.
Ideally, this is how I would spend every single morning; however, in the next week, my life and schedule are about to change dramatically. I really have no idea what that will look like yet, but I don’t imagine I’ll have nearly the amount of time as I do now to prepare, eat, and enjoy breakfast.
In the past, I always scoffed at people who would casually throw a granola bar in their bag on their way out the door and call it breakfast. I thought, that may suffice for some people, but never for me!
Then, I became a realist in the sense that not everyone has a good hour and a half to devote to stovetop oatmeal or pancakes every morning. Dually noted.
This realization came the other day when I accidentally overslept my alarm the morning I had to attend a work event at the center. I felt rushed, I felt anxious, and I felt hungry. I quickly began to think of something I could grab to take with me, and realized, I really had very little that would be conducive for travel.
It’s a shame I didn’t have this product then…..
belVita Breakfast Biscuits are a new speciality baked breakfast cookie packed with fiber, protein, and whole grains. They are specially baked to release energy regularly and continuously, giving you sustained energy all morning.
They come in 5 flavors: Honey Oat, Blueberry, Chocolate, Cinnamon Brown Sugar, and Apple Cinnamon.
Each pack contains four biscuits, portioned for optimal nutrition; 18-20 grams of whole grains, 3 grams of fiber, and 4 grams of protein.
The biscuits were a nice size. One or two could probably sustain as a snack and all four would be a good amount of grains for a meal.
Paired with a piece of fruit and a serving of dairy, this turns into one complete breakfast, hitting all of your key nutrients.
Okay, so now that we’ve gotten through the healthy benefits, let’s talk about the most important aspect…the taste!
Truthfully, these were very good, but not as sweet as your typical cookie. Some people may be fooled in thinking that, so I just wanted to be clear.
Personally, I go for the more hearty and savory taste in a biscuit, so I was pleased, but the taste of cinnamon and brown sugar were faint.
Out of them all, I feel the chocolate would be my favorite, but crumbled on top of yogurt for a delicious sweet snack before bed. (I say this because I’ve tried it and endorse the idea)
Here are some other balanced breakfast ideas with belVita:
- with low-fat or non-fat Greek yogurt and berries
- with an orange and a low-fat or non-fat latte
- with apple slices and low-fat cheese
- with 1/2 pt carton of milk + a banana
I foresee a few more rushed mornings in my future, especially with a commute into the city and a few jobs to juggle. Ideally, I’ll always choose a long and lasting meal to start my day, but it’s definitely nice to have options when that just doesn’t happen.

I think pairing them with an apple and milk is a great idea! I never thought to try them before since I try not to snack but incorporating them into a balanced meal makes me want to give them a try.
Yes, definitely pairing them with something is better! I would say almond butter or pb on them would be a great addition too!
What a great little on the go breakfast! I should get these for Josh….he has a tendency to eat on the run (so I usually make him bars)
I have tried the Oat ones and they are pretty good. As far as prepackaged biscuits/bars/cookies go these are some of the better ones out there as far as nutrition goes. I had mine with a glass of milk for a snack.
I so wish I had that much time for breakfast every morning. I have about 20 minutes to make and eat breakfast so I do what I can and usually prep something the night before.
Prepping the night before is a great tip. I often do that as well.
These sounds quite interesting. I was looking at their ingredients HOPING they’d be gluten free but alas, they are not
Maybe one day they will make them so they are! I personally love roasted butternut squash and eggs in the morning, such a perfect balance of protein, carb and healthy fat
Bummer! But roasted squash and eggs sound fabulous for breakfast!
I’ve been loving these too. Although gotta say 1 or 2 would NOT be sufficient enough snack for me.
Yeah I was thinking one or two crumbled over some yogurt or something. Should have been a bit more clear.
I’ve been seeing these pop up at my local grocery store and wondering how they are! Thanks for the review!
never heard of belvita but you had me had “biscuit”
These are fairly high in sugar and have a long ingredient list. I think I’m better off prepping some oats in a jar the night before, or making my own healthy protein bars. Better for you and cheaper!
I agree. Kraft claims to use the “special baking process” and the “special slow release grains”. It’s all marketing. I stay away from big brands like Kraft.
Perfect timing with your review! I stopped by Walgreens this morning to pick up a snack and belvita was the first thing I saw. The Golden Oat ones are quite tasty.
I bet you would never eat these for breakfast! They are processed with a lot of sugar. You are only writing the sponsorship post!!
I would love to try them with cheese and apple slices.. or cottage cheese for extra protein. We actually have these in Australia but I usually steer clear of the breakfast aisle… maybe I will have to try them.
