This week went by fast! In fact, most of my weeks now happen fast seeing as my “weekends” occur mid-week. The life of a bartender I suppose….
I’m just going to jump right into a little brain dump from the past few days so please enjoy!
Confession #1-
OIAJ….wow, it’s been so long. I have been hoarding this near-empty jar of sunflower seed butter all week in order for this to happen. My heart was fulfilled once again.
Confession #2-
Do you know what is possibly the best invention ever….dry ice! I spent way too much time unproductively playing with a small piece from a shipment I received. Who would have thought that a little chunk of ice could provide hours of mindless pleasure. This was just the mental break I needed after hours of writing and a painful Monday.
Confession #3-
I know Chicago is known for many things, but I can not get over how good the sushi is here! I think I’ve had it at least twice a week since arriving. It also doesn’t help that there are endless sushi joints within a 3 mile radius from me.
Confession #4-
Speaking of Chicago food, I don’t think I have been disappointed yet with a meal I’ve ordered. Even something simple like the chicken salad I had from a local coffee shop the other day was some of the best I’ve ever had. The midwest knows food…that’s all I’m saying!
Confession #5-
I treated myself to a pedicure for Valentine’s Day this year. I think it’s been almost a year since I had a pedicure and my goodness did I enjoy it. Forget chocolate, paying someone to rub my feet after spending 12 hours on them the day before was the most wonderful gift I could have ever given myself.
Well, that’s all I have from this week. Hope everyone is looking forward to a fantastic (hopefully long) weekend!
Bye for now!

I so want to visit you!! The food looks amazing. Totally deserved that pedi. Going to enter the giveaway!
Yum! I love sushi in Chicago-SO many great places!
I treated myself to a Valentine’s manicure!!!
It’s so weird that you just up and left your husband. No WAY could I ever do that unless I was making mad cash. If you want to keep that issue separate then just say it instead of having your audience wondering if you’re trying to work on your marriage or not. It’s actually pretty rude.
I also find it humorous that you feel like you “belong ” in the city. Because you’ve been to a few restaurants? Can you name a few suburbs? Highways? Museums? Go to a Bulls, Blackhawks, or Cubs game, the museums, the Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, etc. Until then, you are not a Chicagoan as much as you strive to be.
I also need a pedicure like you wouldn’t believe!!!
I too can’t help but point out the obvious, it’s Valentine’s Day..you moved to another city..left your husband and your house and you don’t address it at all. If you have a blog and expect to have readers that follow you (for you to make money on your advertisements/endorsements, of which you have many) then you should be open and honest with them. You seem kind of like a fake person through your blog. I feel sad for you..I think you have a lot of deeper isseus going on with your weight and your marriage..just don’t be fake on your blog just to receive a paycheck.
I seriously find this comment offensive. Lauren’s marriage is no one’s business but Lauren’s. Wow.
You can’t be OIAJ, especially in a sunflower seed jar!
I know Chicago is a big city and all, but I’m actually surprised out how great their sushi would be considering it’s in the midwest. That’s so awesome! Utah needs to step up its game in the sushi department for sure. Glad you were able to enjoy a nice pedi! I have a gift certificate for one that I need o use one of these days… It’s been too long!
I’m a big watcher of the Food Network and Travel Channel-Chicago is always featured! One day, I want to take a culinary tour of the city and go to all the best places. Preferably in the spring or summer…
I just got a pedicure myself after months of DIY pedicures to pinch my pennies. It was such a treat!
I haven’t had oiaj in while either and am starting to go through withdrawals…luckily my almond butter jar is looking a little low.
I am so jealous of all the good sushi you are surrounded by, the sushi scene here is pretty seriously lacking.
Us Midwesterners definitely know our food!!
Kenzer and I did that exact same thing with dry ice recently! A nice little science experiment for her! lol
Of all the blogs I read, yours is the only one that has so many frequent negative comments on it. What gives???
Glad you’re enjoying Chicago!
No idea? It seems like the negative comments come in swings but I really pay them no mind. Thanks for having my back though!
I too have found a lot of negative comments on here Jenny (above) Very strange
