What I’m Loving Lately

by Lauren on April 12, 2014

Hey guys!

This post was intended to go up last night, but I just never got around to it.  After working all day, the only thing I had on my mind was coming home, putting on some stretchy pants and lying horizontal on my couch, entirely unplugged for the rest of the evening.  It was glorious!

This weekend should be pretty good!  We are actually in the process of moving apartments, which is kind of a huge pain but well worth it in the end.  We’ve been having some issues with our upstairs neighbors and the management company told us we can move buildings into a nicer and newer apartment for the same rent.  It does work out in the end, but the thought of moving all of our stuff AGAIN is a major drag!  Oh well, at least the majority of the moving I am exempt from.  It’s just the unpacking and organizing part that brings me down, and on such a BEAUTIFUL spring weekend.

Other than that, we don’t have much planned.  I think we may go out to dinner tonight to celebrate my birthday since we have yet to do that.  At the very least, froyo will occur.

I actually have a small list of favorites to share with you this week, but nonetheless, I hope you enjoy!

How Sweet It Is Crunchy Buffalo Chicken Salad ->  My tastebuds are gravitating towards spicy things lately, so this salad sounds like my cup of tea.  I love the fact that the chicken tenders are drenched in buffalo sauce and panko and then baked.  Sounds delicious!

Iowa Girl Eats’s Simple Shrimp and Asparagus Risotto -> You know I don’t think I’ve EVER made real risotto before!  It’s been on my cooking bucket list for ages now, and is one of those staple recipes that I feel every amateur chef sound know how to make.  It seems easy enough and this recipe sounds like a perfect starting point.

Pregnancy Style Tips -> Okay, so when I got pregnant, I vowed to be one of those adorable pregnant women you see in the magazines that dress in cute maxi dresses and tight shirts that accentuate their little round bump.  Well, I’m not sure when that happens, but right now I feel like I’m in a maternity style slump!  I still feel so silly in most maternity clothes- like I’m swimming in most of the shirts and dresses – and my old clothes I just bust out of.  All I really want to wear is yoga pants and a zipper up hoodie.  If anyone has advice on how to look semi-descent, please fill me in.  I’ve been trying to take notes from sites like this, but let’s get real, no pregnant woman feels or looks “chic” every day like this.

50 things every new parent should know -> Number 17 is our life.  And I try to convince John of 24 every day.  He is sold on a wipe warmer though!

Frog, the french bulldog who hates bed -> OH MY GOSH, I don’t think anything is more adorable than this.  I’m desperately trying to convince John that we need a french bulldog, or just a dog to name Frog.

7 tips for having a natural hospital birth -> Having a natural birth is definitely in my birth plan at the moment, but I’m trying to educate myself as much as possible before I make any concrete decisions.  Obviously, I know it could all change and I’m not 100% against an epidural, but at the moment, I’m leaning towards a drug free water birth in our birthing center.  I am planning on doing as much research and reading beforehand but if any of you have experience with this, I’d love to hear your advice!

10 tips for surviving a summer pregnancy -> I always thought I’d be happy to be pregnant during the summer, but the more I hear from past mom’s who went through it, I’m in for a rude awakening.  I’m trying to prepare myself now.

Adorable and funny baby clothes.  I will be one of those mom’s that buys stupid little onesies covered in cute jokes.

Well, that’s all I have this week.  Enjoy your weekend everyone!

You do not need a wipe warmer. The only time you’ll have warm wipes is at home so whenever you change a diaper somewhere else it won’t be warm.

I planned on a natural birth and ended up with an emergency c-section. I let myself down because I never planned on ot happening any other way. Do as they say and expect the unexpected.

I was pregnant during the summer (had baby in August) but I never felt miserable like everyone said I would – maybe I just got lucky.

Those running thoughts are so true!

Loving the links!

Wipe warmer, do not need! I agree with Erika as well!

And the birth plan, NEVER think your plan is set in stone. Just know that going in, it is much easier when something changes with it. I opted for an epidural, but had to go natural. I feel that me having in “my mind” way ahead that things could change, really helped me be ok when my plan changed!

Happy week love!
